| Print2PDF can be deployed in multiple ways: using a shared network printer, preparing the client for distribution from a flash drive, a web service, on a single Terminal Server,
or on a Citrix/Terminal Services farm. Each way effects how the Print2PDF services are distributed to the user and how the client licenses are consumed. |
Limitations |
- To prevent a license violation, you MUST limit access to Print2PDF services via user rights if you purchase a license that is smaller than your current user amount.
- The Print2PDF printer can be shared from the server ONLY. Sharing a shared printer is NOT allowed.
|
Client-server usage (per user) |
| Using this method, Print2PDF is installed on a Windows computer and the printer is shared, or the prepare client utility is used.
A dedicated print server is not required since the Print2PDF printer is converted to a local printer after installation on a client.
This is perfect for installation on mobile computers since future network connections are not required. The Print2PDF printer can be
installed on clients using the 'Add a printer' dialog, through a simple login script, or using the prepare client install distributed
from a flash drive. A license is consumed for each installed Print2PDF client. If you add the Print2PDF printer to 25 computers,
you will need a 25 user license. |
 |
Web service usage (per user) |
| Using this method, Print2PDF is installed on a Windows computer with Microsoft Internet Information services. Access is provided to
users through any standard web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox). A license is consumed for each user that has access to the
PDF conversion services. If you want to provide this service to all 100 users in your organization, you will need a 100 user license. |
 |
Terminal Services usage (concurrent) |
| Using this method, Print2PDF is installed directly on a Windows Server with Terminal Services. The Print2PDF printer can be used by
connected clients as long as the user rights are set on the printer to allow access. A license is consumed for each connected user.
If you have 100 users in your organization, but only 25 concurrent Terminal Services users, you will need a 25 user license. |
 |
Terminal Services farm usage (per user + concurrent) |
| Using this method, Print2PDF is installed directly on one (1) Windows Server with Terminal Services and shared to other servers in the
farm. The Print2PDF printer can be used by connected clients as long as the user rights on the printer allow access. A license is consumed
for each connected server in the farm and each connected user. If you have 150 users in your organization, 6 servers in the farm, but
only 95 concurrent Terminal Services users, you will need a 100 user license. |
